A 25-year-old resident of Tumariha Ghtte village in UP died in an accident near Kohand village on the NH-44 on Wednesday. The deceased, Dharambir, had eloped with a 13-year-old last week.
ASI Chandan said a team of the UP Police arrested him from Mani Majra in Chandigarh on Wednesday and were taking him back.
When the police neared Kohand village, he requested to attend nature’s call, he said, adding that a car hit him and he was taken to hospital, where he was declared dead.
The ASI said that Dharambir was married to a blind woman. He had earlier eloped with another girl.
The police registered a case against an unidentified driver. Denying it to be murder, the ASI said that his brother Sombir was with the police and the case was registered on his complaint.
