Chandigarh, February 26

Just three days after a person moved the Punjab and Haryana High Court alleging that his son was put in a sack and taken away by the police after he sustained injuries during the farm stir, the State today submitted that the injured youth was admitted to hospital.

In an affidavit placed before Justice Harkesh Manuja’s Bench, the Jind SP said the youth was not detained and was rather found injured near the barricades. He was later admitted to hospital. He has now been shifted from PGIMS-Rohtak to PGI-Chandigarh on his family’s demand. The case will come up for hearing on February 28.

The State, on the previous date of hearing, was put on a notice on a habeas corpus plea for a warrant officer’s appointment with a ‘roving writ’ to search for the detainee.
