The BJP has 7,000 WhatsApp groups at the boot level in Himachal. The party has prepared an exhaustive database of over seven lakh social media users to undertake an impact analysis, said Sanjay Tandon, co-incharge for BJP Affairs in Himachal, here today.

Tandon chaired a meeting of the Social Media Cell and the IT Cell of the party. BJP state vice-presidents Payal Vaidya and Puneet Sharma and head of Social Media Cell and IT cells Anil Dadwal also attended the meeting.

Tandon criticised the Congress for politicising Sonia Gandhi’s questioning by the Enforcement Directorate (ED). “The Gandhi family thinks that it is above law. If the Gandhis are innocent, what they are afraid of,” he said.

A detailed discussion on the working of the the Social Media and IT cells of the party. Tandon gave tips to those present on how to increase the reach of the social media handles related to the party so as to reach out to people. “The party will undertake an impact analysis to improve its working on social media as understanding people’s perspective is very essential,” he said.

He said the BJP office-bearers from the state would take meetings at the mandal level and the office-bearers in the district would hold meetings at the booth level. He added that a virtual meeting would be held every week to assess the progress of the party.
