Srinagar, August 6
A shell exploded outside the house of a Kashmiri Pandit in Kralpora village of Budgam district on Saturday. “At 7:45 am, some loud sound was heard in Kralpora which houses some minority families too,” a police official said.
The splinters damaged the windowpanes of the house of Raj Kumar, who is working in the Army’s MES wing. Kumar reported hurling of some explosive substances at his residence, the official said.
A bomb disposal squad visited the site after the residents informed the police. The preliminary investigation revealed that a leftover shell in a building had exploded. “It seems some unexploded old shell in building material or scrap which might have exploded,” an official said.
“No injury was reported. Further investigation into the incident has been going on,” the police added.
