Campus notes: International Women’s Day celebrated

Jalandhar: Doaba College organised International Women’s Day as ‘Shakti Parv’. Puneet Sehgal, Director, Doordarshan Jalandhar, was the chief guest while Dr Atima Sharma Dwivedi, Principal, Kanya Maha Vidyalaya, and Parveen Abrol, president, NGO Drishti, and eminent social worker, were the guests of honour. Parveen Abrol shared her experiences to raise awareness about the dignity of women among the youth and urged the women to be strong and believe in themselves to be empowered. Various colourful and vibrant stage performances in the form of poetical recital by Yuvraj Singh and Ishita, songs by Tejas and Aarti and choreography by journalism students captured the hearts of audience.

63rd Annual Sports Meet

Montgomery Guru Nanak College of Education, Jalandhar, organized its 63rd Annual Sports Meet. Principal Dr.Neelu Jhanji in her presedential remarks said that she was delighted to watch the way sport events were organised. She emphasised that with the help of sports, the students could groom their personality in a comprehensive manner. In fancy dress competition, Pratiksha stood first, Ranchana Kumari got second position, Akansha stood third, Harleen Kaur Sahnan and Prabhdeep Kaur got consolation prize. Ritik Kumar was declared the Best Athlete (boys) and Jyoti Shriwas was the Best Athlete (girls) of the college. More than 100 students participated in various events like 100 m race, 200 m race, long jump, shot put, relay race, obstacle race, apple race and tug of war.

Brain Storm 2024

Students of Apeejay College of Fine Arts have won the championship trophy of Brain Strom 2024, an inter-college competition held at KMV College. There were seven competitions under different categories in the inter-college competition - Brain Storm 2024 and 32 students of Department of Commerce of the college participated in these competitions and earned the trophy. They had stood first in quiz, Aap Ki Adalat, ramp walk, innovative startup and third in epic wall, rangoli and choreography.

A trip to Jaipur

A trip to Jaipur was organised for the students of Hans Raj Mahila Maha Vidyalaya. The students visited places like City Palace, Jantar Mantar, Hawa Mahal, Jal Mahal, Amer Fort and Albert Hall Museum. The students come to know about history of Indian kings and their kingdoms. Students were enriched with the culture of Rajasthan by enjoying the cultural events, dance, food, shopping, magic shows, camel rides in Chokhi Dhani. They also felt pleasure at shop at Zohri Bazaar and Bapu Bazaar by buying various items representing the image of Jaipur.

Voter Awareness Programme

The NSS units of Lyallpur Khalsa College organised voter awareness rally themed ‘My Bharat, My Vote, Vote4Sure’. Principal Dr Jaspal Singh initiated the rally saying that in democracy voting is highly crucial as every vote matters. Prof Satpal Singh, Chief Programme Officer, NSS, informed that the voter awareness rally was organised in the college campus and surrounding area in collaboration with Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan.

Book Exhibition

Punjabi Sahit Sabha, DAV College, organised a special lecture and book exhibition on Swami Vivekanand as instructed by Principal Dr Rajesh Kumar, Dr Dinesh Arora, Department of Political Science, was the guest speaker.
