Shimla, July 4

The state government will soon launch a scheme to bring about qualitative changes in 100 schools and improve the pupil-teacher ratio.

Announcing this while addressing a meeting here today, Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur said Rs 15 crore would be spent on the Swaran Jyanti Gyanodaya Cluster Sreshtha Vidyalaya Yojana.

Six more colleges would offer bachelor of vocational courses this year. These courses are already available in 12 colleges. Under the Medha Protsahan Yojna, Thakur said the students, taking coaching for NEET and JEE, were given Rs 1 lakh.

“Under the Swaran Jyanti Super-100 scheme, 100 toppers of Class X will be provided an assistance of Rs 1 lakh each for undergoing training to compete in various entrance examinations,” he said. Efforts would be made to increase the enrolment of students in government schools, particularly at pre-primary and primary levels.
