Anuk emerges victor in rapid chess tournament

The U-11 winners of the rapid chess tournament held on Sunday.

Ludhiana, January 28

Anuk Bansal emerged triumphant in the open category of the second edition of Rajiv Nayyar Memorial Rapid Chess Tournament, organised by Rajiv Nayyar Chess Association (RNCA), an affiliated body of the Ludhiana District Chess Association (LDCA) at BCM Arya School, Lalton village on Pakhowal Road, near here on Sunday.

Arvinder Preet Singh and Rohit Kumar secured second and third positions, respectively. The winner pocketed a cash prize of Rs 11,000 besides the trophy, while the second and third position holders received prize money of Rs 8,000 and Rs 6,000 respectively. Ram Prakash and Nikhil Chahal finished at fourth and fifth spot and got cash prizes too.

In the boys U-17 section, Swastik Singhal and Rishav Mondal secured top two positions while in the girls section, Sakshi and Asmi Dhand stood first and second, respectively.

In the boys U-15 category, first five positions were bagged by Bhavraj Singh Sohi, Radesh, Konark Banga, Aarav Juneja and Ansh Kumar Malhotra, respectively, while in the boys U-13 section, Vratesh clinched the top position and was followed by Tanish and Tavish Singh Rathore.

Ruveena Ranga, Abhilasha and Kriti Agnihotri secured top three positions in the girls U-13 group and in boys U-11 category, first three positions were won by Teg Fateh Singh, Tavish Bansal and Vidya Sagar Mehrotra, while in the girls U-9 group, Tanvir Kaur romped home victorious, Agamjot Kaur secured second position and Mokshita Mehrotra finished third.

In the physically challenged section, Varinder Kumar Puri fetched winners’ trophy and Pankaj secured runners-up trophy.
