Five motorcycles were stolen from different parts of the city on Sunday. One person was arrested with a stolen Activa scooter and another person lost his mobile phone to two scooter-borne snatchers.
According to the police, one Hero Honda Passion (PB-10CN-1578) was stolen from near petrol pump at the Jalandhar Bypass, one Hero Splendour (PB-10CZ-7826) was stolen from near Dyeing Complex on Bahadurke Road, one Hero Splendour (PB-91H-8808) was stolen from outside Rakh Bagh, one Hero Splendour (PB-91F-2874) was stolen from Phase II in Focal Point, while another Hero Splendour motorcycle was reported to have been stolen from Kartar Bhawan Complex on Ferozepur Road.
The police have registered cases under Section 379 of the IPC.
One person, identified as Badal Ghulati, resident of Hazoori Bagh Colony, Bhattian Bet, was nabbed by the police from Rahon Road, Basti Jodhewal, while riding a stolen Activa scooter bearing fake number plate. He was booked under Sections 379, 411 and 473 of the IPC.
Meanwhile, two Activa-borne youths snatched a Samsung mobile phone from Abhishek Bansal, who was going on a night walk towards Royal Resorts. The victim said he was talking on the mobile phone and when he reached near Hitech Gym, the scooter-borne youths came from behind, snatched his mobile phone and fled. The police have registered a case under Section 379-B of the IPC.
