Ludhiana, August 20
The crime branch today claimed to have unearthed a gambling racket with the arrest of three members of a gang. The police recovered Rs 2.60 lakh and 13 tokens from them.
Those arrested have been identified as Gagandeep Singh of Dugri, Raj Kumar Raju of SBS Nagar and Sukhwinderpal Singh Sehgal of CMC Road. Two members of the gang, Prince Kumar and Harvinder Singh, both residents of Flower Enclave, are at large.
Commissioner of Police Rakesh Agrawal said a police party present at Basant Avenue received a tip-off that a few persons were running a gambling racket at farm houses.
Agrawal said the suspects showed a fake permission letter for organising skill games.
The suspects also usurped money of many gamblers who had won games. — TNS
