Students of Guru Gobind Singh Public School, Daad, Pakhowal Road, made the school proud by bagging positions in the Kathmandu Open Karate Championship 2019, which concluded on Friday at Lainchour, Kathmandu. Students had participated in two categories, U-14 and U-11.
Sehajvir Singh of Class VIII stood second in the U-14 category. In the U-11 category, Gurasees Kaur of Class VI bagged third position.
As many as 600 players from different countries had participated in this championship. The chairman of the school, Avtar Singh Makkar, and the director/principal, Dr Manjit Kaur, congratulated the winning team for making the country proud.
Manjit Kaur said: “GGSPS has the history to nurture players to play at both national and international levels. Many students of the school have proved their mettle by winning gold medals in various international tournaments played in Malaysia, Japan, Spain and Nepal. One of our students has also been honoured by the Arwind Kejriwal, Chief Minister of Delhi, who is presently working as a karate coach.” She wished the players for a brilliant future.
