Ludhiana: Thieves broke into a workshop on Gaushala Road, near Jagera Pul in Pohir village on the night December 2 and took away tools, iron and brass items. The complainant, Kesar Din, a resident of Jandali Kalan village, said he had closed the workshop on the night of December 2. The next day he found the shutters of both the workshop, where lathe machines were installed, broken. The police have registered a case under sections 457/180 of the IPC. OC
Two arrested for drug trade
Ludhiana: The Koom Kalan police have arrested Gurpreet Singh of Chaura village for drug trafficking. The police said he was nabbed while he was going from Gujjarwal side to Ratangarh on his motorcycle. The police recovered 12 grams of narcotic powder from him and impounded the motorcycle. A case has been registered under sections 22/61/85 of the NDPS Act. The Tibba arrested Hemant Kumar of Subhash Nagar with 5 gm of heroin near Subhash Nagar T-point. oc
One held for illegal mining
Ludhiana: The Salem Tabri police have nabbed Jaswinder Singh of Talwandi Kalan village for illegally mining sand from the Sutlej riverbed. A police party apprehended him near Fatehpur Gujjran village while he was driving his tractor-trailer laden with sand. A case has been registered under section 379 of the IPC and section 21 of the Mining Act. oc
