Following reports of Chief Principal Secretary to Chief Minister Suresh Kumar offering to resign over the case of his appointment not being handled properly by the government, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh today talked to him over the phone.

It could not be ascertained as to what transpired between the two. Since Monday, the Chief Minister has been camping in Delhi for his official engagements. It is learnt that Kumar was waiting to talk to the Chief Minister before deciding his future course of action.

Capt’s Principal Secretary Tejveer Singh and Special Secretary Gurkirat Kirpal Singh, who were in Delhi for official engagement, are reported to have briefed the Chief Minister on the issue.

“An internal strife in the corridors of power is main reason behind the annoyance of the CPS,” said sources privy to the developments.

Meanwhile, Kumar did not attend the office today and was said to be out of station. Clarity over the issue would emerge once the Capt Amarinder Singh returns to Chandigarh on Friday after visiting the mishap site at Batala.

Suresh Kumar had earlier resigned from the post in August 2017, when his appointment was challenged in the High Court. On Chief Minister’s intervention, Kumar had joined back.
