Chandigarh, January 15
Amarinder Singh Raja Warring, president of the Punjab Pradesh Congress Committee (PPCC), today expressed concern over “deteriorating” condition of law and order in the state.
The PPCC chief said, “It is disheartening to witness the failure of the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in fulfilling its promises made to the people of Punjab and ensuring their safety and security. The unfortunate daylight murder of Sonu Cheema, the sarpanch of Cheema Kalan, serves as a stark reminder of utter incompetence of the AAP administration in safeguarding the lives of its own people. This incident is not just an isolated tragedy but a tight slap on AAP’s face, revealing their inability to protect the very individuals who voted in the favour of the ruling party.”
Warring said the AAP came into power with tall promises, which included claims to prioritise the safety and well-being of the common man. However, the ground reality speaks otherwise.
“The law and order situation in Punjab has only worsened since the AAP formed the government in Punjab. It is evident that its focus on hollow rhetoric and political posturing have done little to address the pressing concerns of the people,” the PPCC chief said.
