Tarn Taran, July 17

Employees of the Municipal Council (MC) staged a protest for not releasing their salaries and other demands. The employees under the banner of Safai Karamchari Union organised a protest march in the town and then held a rally in front of the office of Municipal Council.

Romesh Kumar Shergill, president of the union, said the employees had been demanding release of their long-pending salaries. The protesters also demanded jobs on compassionate grounds and regularisation of the services of daily wage and contractual employees.

Anil Chopra, executive officer, assured the delegation of agitating employees that their salaries would be released soon, besides considering their other genuine demands.
