To discuss its long-pending demands, a delegation of the DAV Colleges’ Retired Teachers’ Association, Punjab, met Governor VP Singh Badnore in Chandigarh on Saturday.

Association president Prof Rajnish Kumar, vice-president Prof Bodh Raj, general secretary Prof Satish Tandon, press secretary Prof NK Gosain, finance secretary Prof SC Arora and area secretary Prof AK Trivedi were part of the delegation.

The main demand of the delegation was non-encashment of earned leave of the teachers of aided colleges affiliated to Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, who retired prior to January 1, 2012.

The Governor was informed that the benefit had already been granted by Panjab University, Chandigarh, and Punjabi University, Patiala, to the retired teachers of the colleges affiliated to these two universities.

The members also pointed out the disparity and discrimination being meted out to the teachers of colleges affiliated to Punjabi University, Patiala, and GNDU, Amritsar, on the issue of payment of CPF on the total salary.

Whereas teachers of affiliated colleges of Panjab University have already been granted the benefit with effect from April 1, 1984, the teachers of the other two universities are deprived of it.

The delegation members also took up the issue of pension with the Governor. They said while teachers of aided schools had been given the benefit of pension, but aided-college teachers were not getting pension. The Governor assured them to look into their demands sympathetically and to take up these issues with the government for their early solution.
