Fatehabad, August 26

Two persons died and four others were injured when the building of a food products unit collapsed in the local Industrial Area this evening.

At least two others are suspected to be still trapped under the debris.

Sahil (25), son of a partner Pawan Sardana, and Ramesh (30), a labourer, have been identified as those killed in the accident, said Shamsher Singh Dahiya, DSP, Fatehabad, who was looking after the rescue operations.

Dahiya said the factory situated in the Industrial Area opposite Hotel Kalurams on the National Highway was an old building sans pillars or beams. The factory owners were building an additional floor on it, he added.

However, the building caved in when labourers were doing construction work and some others were packing food products inside the factory building. At least eight persons were trapped in the rubble.

The police as well as neighbours started rescue operations and took out victims buried under the debris. Sahil and Ramesh were brought dead in the hospital, said a doctor.

Dahiya said efforts were being made to dig out two others possibly trapped under the rubble.
