Ludhiana, July 18

Four persons from the city have tested positive for dengue. All patients have been admitted to Dayanand Medical College and Hospital (DMCH). Since the rainy season has set in, the threat of dengue looms large over the city. The Health Department has formed 35 teams for conducting a door-to-door survey to check breeding of dengue larvae.

Dr Ramesh, District Epidemiologist, said four patients from the city had tested positive for dengue and all of them had been admitted to the DMCH. He said hospitals should regularly report about dengue patients to the department. At present, only the Civil Hospital and the DMCH are sending such reports, he said.

The Health Department has formed 34 teams to check breeding of mosquito larave at houses. The teams have been formed in cooperation with the Municipal Corporation. These teams will be visiting houses and issuing challans. The number of patients tested positive for dengue in Ludhiana last year till December was 1,865. Of them 594 patients were from other districts.
