Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) chief Mohan Bhagwat has stressed on increasing the membership of the RSS and urged swayamsevaks to propagate the ideology and social works being done by the Hindu outfit.

Bhagwat, speaking at the Nishkam Sewa Trust Ashram at Bhoopatwala in Haridwar on the second day of the three-day convention today, said the strength of the RSS lay in its ideology and hard work of swayamsevaks.

He called for cow conservation, which is part of the Indian civilization, at the national level. He spoke about the benefits of Indian breed of cows and their milk and dairy products.

Bhagwat said the Indian culture preaches peace, harmony and protection of the environment. “I call upon people, irrespective of their sect, culture, religion, caste and creed, to get united and work for the country. India can be made a developed country only when we stand united and shun petty interests for the country’s sake,” he added.

This convention is being held for the western Uttar Pradesh division of the RSS, which includes Uttarkahand, Braj and Meerut. Twenty-four representatives from these three divisions are taking part in the convention.
