A four-year-daughter of a UP migrant worker was found murdered in an old well at Baljeet Nagar here this afternoon. The girl had been missing from her house since September 17.

The police sent the girl’s body to the General Hospital but the doctors referred it to the PGI, Rohtak, for a postmortem. The police suspect it to be a case of sexual assault.

In his complaint to the police, the victim’s father reported about his daughter going missing after a religious procession passed by his street on September 17.

Inspector Sandeep Kumar, SHO, Chandni Bagh, said though the actual cause of death would be revealed after a postmortem examination, it seemed that she had been strangled.

The SHO said the possibility of a sexual assault could not be ruled out even though no injury mark was found on her private parts.
