Rohtak, February 19
A 42-year-old resident of Tej Colony in Rohtak town, who is a father of four children, has been arrested for allegedly sexually assaulting a three-year-old girl of his neighbourhood.
The girl was playing near her home last evening when the man, identified as Surender, lured her on some pretext and took her to his house, where he allegedly raped her.
The girl has been admitted to the local PGIMS, where her condition is stated to be stable. A case has been registered under the POCSO Act.
Haryana State Women Commission chairperson Pratibha Suman visited the girl at the PGIMS today and enquired about her health.
She said the commission would recommend the provision of financial aid to the victim’s family.
She pointed out that on recommendation of the commission the Haryana Government had decided to enact a law for provision of capital punishment for the rape of girls below 12 years of age in the upcoming session of the state Assembly.
