A small-time gang of snatchers abducted son of a local doctor and released him after taking Rs 55-lakh ransom around 10 days back.

They posed as members of notorious Kaushal gang, used its modus operandi and managed to cash in on its terror and a recent attack on the same doctor’s hospital in Rewari.

The doctor approached the police today saying he was scared for his son’s life and thus kept quiet so far.

Sources claim that STF headed by IG KK Rao had got to know of the incident and managed to nab the two abductors though no official confirmation has been issued so far. “I would not say anything on this as we are investigating the case and have major leads,” Rao said.

According to FIR filed by doctor at Civil Lines police station, he along with his son, also a doctor, would travel daily to their Rewari branch of hospital. On March 16, his son went missing on way back to home and his phone was switched off. The doctor called the police.

“When he did not reach home till 10.30 pm we got scared. We verbally informed police. It was post midnight that we got a ransom call on WhatsApp. Scared for my son’s life I gave them Rs 55 lakh near Kundli on GT road on March 17 and got my son back,” read the doctor’s complaint.

As per the complaint, an FIR has been registered against unidentified accused under Sections 364-A (kidnapping for ransom) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC at Civil Lines police station.

According to sources, there were five men who intercepted the doctor while he was going to Sector 29 to meet his friend before reaching home. They were probably looking to rob him of his car and hold him captive. When the victim revealed his identity the accused remembered threats issued to his family by the Kaushal gang and decided to use gang’s name to cash in on opportunity.
