Former Chief Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda on Sunday questioned the logic of holding talks with Punjab on the Sutlej-Yamuna Link (SYL) canal when the Supreme Court has already asked Punjab and Haryana to resolve the matter by September 3.
“It is the duty of the Central and state governments to implement the SC’s decision,” he told the media in the district’s Rathdhana village after paying obeisance at the “samadhi” of Baba Bhaiya.
He alleged the state government was not interested in getting Haryana’s share of riverwaters. “This state government is directionless.”
To a query, Hooda said the decision on the Congress president would probably be decided this week. He claimed the Congress was ready for the Assembly elections as it had already started contact programmes across the state.
