In a message, the Governor expressed shock and anguish over the serial blasts in churches and hotels in Sri Lanka in which innocent lives were lost, and many were injured. “We stand in solidarity with the people of Sri Lanka,” he said.

Calling it a heinous act which attempts to spread fear and hatred, Malik said the world stood united in the fight against terrorism.

Earth Day today

On Earth Day on Monday, Governor Satya Pal Malik emphasised this year’s theme, which is “Protect Our Species”, and urged people to share their responsibilities towards saving the species which were on the verge of extinction due to climate change, deforestation, pollution and illegal poaching. “If we wish to protect the human race and all other life forms, we must ensure that the planet we live on is protected,” he added. — TNS
