Damandeep, Shikha to lead LBA teams

LUDHIANA: Damandeep Singh and Shikha have been selected to lead the Ludhiana Basketball Academy (LBA) boys’ and girls’ teams, respectively, while Arjun will lead Ludhiana district boys’ team in the 70th Junior Punjab Basketball Championship slated to be held from August 19 here at the Guru Nanak Stadium.

Damandeep Singh and Shikha have been selected to lead the Ludhiana Basketball Academy (LBA) boys’ and girls’ teams, respectively, while Arjun will lead Ludhiana district boys’ team in the 70th Junior Punjab Basketball Championship slated to be held from August 19 here at the Guru Nanak Stadium.

Players for three teams were selected during the trials held on August 15 at the Guru Nanak Stadium here.

Teja Singh Dhaliwal, general secretary, Ludhiana District Basketball Association, released the players’ list here on Saturday.

Those selected

  • LBA (boys): Damandeep Singh (captain), Vishavjit Singh, Mannatpreet Singh, Harpreet Singh, Charanpreet Singh, Harsavpal Singh, Jaideep, Manjot Singh, Jugalpreet Singh, Rahul Kapoor, Harsimran Singh and Ravtej Singh. Rajinder Singh and Jaspal Singh have been appointed coaches of the team.
  • LBA (girls): Shikha (captain), Jashandeep Kaur, Sukhmandeep Kaur, Manmeet Kaur, Kanishka Dhir, Bhavika Dhir, Karanveer Kaur, Sharanjit Kaur, Manmeet Kaur, Roopinder Kaur, Paramjeet Kaur and Khushpreet Kaur. Devinder Dhindsa and Saloni have been named coaches.
  • Ludhiana district (boys): Arjun (captain), Navkarman Singh, Binod, Gokul Sharma, Akshatdeep Singh, Tanjot Singh, Nawaz Singh Panaich, Karandeep Singh, Tarunpreet Singh, Simranjot Singh and Harkaran Singh. Ravinder Singh and Narender Pal will be the coaches of the squad.
  • The Punjab teams will be selected on the basis of players’ performance in this championship that will attend the preparatory camp prior to the 70th Junior National Basketball Championship to be held at Patna Sahib from October 17 to 24, Dhailiwal said.
