BEd students, who are undergoing their teacher training programme, have a reason to cheer, as they will now have one casual leave per month during their training. The programme lasts for four months.

Secretary education Krishan Kumar, in a letter written to all school heads across the state, said, “We keep receiving queries from the students undergoing training as well as by the school heads, regarding the casual leaves, but since there was no provision regarding such leaves, a clarification in this regard was imminent.”

“The issue was examined and discussed and it will be appropriate if one casual leave is given to the students during one month which means a maximum of four casual leaves over a period of four months,” said Secretary Education.

Balbir Kaur, a student undergoing the teacher training programme at Ludhiana district appreciated the move of the government and said many a times they needed leaves but there was no provision for the same. Giving one causal leave per month is a good step, she said.

“Since there were no guidelines regarding the issue, we were helpless. With the letter of the Education Secretary, it has been made clear that students can take one leave per month,” she said.
