What Peace Would Bring

Mr. Arthur Henderson and some other distinguished British statesmen spoke of the wonderful efforts of the British nation and of what peace would bring after the war to the Empire at a dinner given on August 29th by Mr. Andrew Fisher, High Commissioner of Australia. Mr. Henderson said that there would be a complete triumph for the British Empire and that the peace would bring them the great ideal of national life against Government by force. Lord Milner also spoke of the revelations made during the war and said that the greatest triumph that peace would bring them was the drawing together in intimate and indissoluble bonds of all the scattered families of the British race throughout the world in great fraternity and political union. Other speakers spoke in similar terms and made reference to the self-governing colonies and the services they did in this war.
