Panchkula, March 6

A retired colonel was injured while his wife murdered after some assailants allegedly barged into their house in Sector 2 here on Wednesday and attacked them.

According to officials, a domestic help working at the house was also injured in the attack.

The incident took place at around 1.30 pm when three persons entered the house and attacked Colonel RK Sharma (retd), wife Sushila Sharma and the maid, said police.

As per preliminary investigation, the assailants, allegedly former servants hired by the family, used sharp-edged weapons to attack the victims.

Following the incident, Panchkula Police Commissioner Sibash Kabiraj and DCP Sumer Pratap Singh reached the spot.

Kabiraj said the attackers allegedly took away some cash from the house. “We have obtained the CCTV footage and got vital clues,” he added.

He said as per initial investigation, the family had hired servants from an online website in the past. “The servants came back and attacked them with sharp-edged weapons,” he said.

Officials said the retired colonel and the domestic help were undergoing treatment at a private hospital.
