Mohali, November 22

The police arrested three persons with 200 grams of heroin and seized a car from their possession near Kurali today.

The suspects have been identified as Ranjt Singh, Desraj, residents of Jogindernagar, and Harish Kumar, a native of Baijnath. A case has been registered against them under the Narcotics Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act at the Sadar Kurali police station. They have been sent to police remand.

The police said the suspects used to supply heroin to their customers in Chandigarh, Mohali and Kurali areas. The trio became paragliding trainees and got acquainted with each other.

They were addicted to drugs and started supplying heroin to meet their drug needs. The trio used to earn huge profits by importing heroin from Delhi at cheaper rates and then sell it in Chandigarh, Mohali and Kurali areas at higher prices.

One held for betting, Rs4,500 recovered

In another case, a person was held for betting and Rs4,500 was recovered from him near Kharar city on November 19. A case has been registered against the suspect under the Gambling Act.
