“Reality show is a bubble, and one has to get out of it as soon as possible to survive in the music industry,” says singer Simran Chaudhary of Chandigarh, who was second runner-up in The Voice India 2019 and one of the finalists in The Voice of Punjab Season 6. She continues, “While it is a shortcut to get an audience and make yourself heard across the globe, but it is not the end. I believe as learning never stops, asking for work or looking for opportunities across different mediums is a part of an artiste’s life.”

She has released her single Meherbaniyan, which apart from her features Bigg Boss-fame Sara Gurpal. The 24-year-old singer is happy to collaborate with composer Goldboy and lyricist Youngveer.

Directed by ace director and ad filmmaker Varun Prabhudayal Gupta, the video is shot in Dehradun. “A song that describes the two sides of a coin — love and betrayal. I feel blessed to have such positive souls like Varun around me who believe in my music.”

The song also marks the re-launch of Amplify label which is dedicated to independent music and artistes.

Simran has recently sung with Amitabh Bachchan for the project Guzar Jayega. She has also given voice to the song Zaroorat with Shatrughan Sinha, Sonakshi Sinha and Kiran Bedi. A pass-out of MCM DAV College, Chandigarh, she admires Gurdas Maan. Acting is not on her mind now, but ‘you never know’, as she puts in. She has released many singles like Bas Teri Aan, Shah Kala and Hawa Banke with Darshan Raval.

Trained in Hindustani classical music, she says, “I believe music lovers will enjoy guitar and flute in the song Meherbaniyan.” About the shoot diaries of the song, she recalls it was really tough to shoot in the dense forests of Dehradun, “Where everyone was clad in coats and layers of warm clothes, I was in a knee-length dress in a bathtub in the middle of the forest. I actually felt the pain of actresses in their chiffon sarees.”
