Will bring new faces with clean image: Congress leader Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu

With around five months left for the Assembly elections to be held in the state, the Congress has started brainstorming sessions over the distribution of ticket to nominees.

It is also expected that the party will deny tickets to some of its sitting and former MLAs over “poor performance”. However, the party will finalise 30 to 35 candidates by the month-end.

This was stated by Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu, senior leader and chairman of the campaign committee of the PCC.

Addressing a press conference here this afternoon, Thakur said the decision was being taken by the leadership following an internal survey by the party to bring new faces with a clean image. He said two rounds of the survey had been completed and the third one was in progress to get feedback from the public.

“Based on the preliminary results of the two surveys, the Congress is unlikely to give ticket again to a number of sitting and former MLAs, who have failed to perform so far. The party leadership is not willing to take any risk with them in the elections,” he added.
