Jalandhar: Minor girl assaulted by 15-yr-old neighbour

A three-year-old girl was sexually assaulted by a minor boy near Basti Bawa Khel here on Monday. The incident came to light when the victim’s father reported the incident to the police yesterday.

According to information, the 15-year-old boy, who lives in the neighbourhood, lured the girl with the promise of sweets and sexually assaulted her at his residence.

In his statement, the victim’s father said the incident took place after he and his wife left for work.

“I, along with my wife, go for work every day, leaving our three daughters (two aged between five and eight and the victim aged 3) at home. The suspect lured her on the promise of sweets and sexually assaulted her. After returning home, we found her in pain,” he said.

“The girl complained of pain in her private part. She said the boy, who lives in their neighbourhood, took her to his place on the pretext of giving her sweets and sexually assaulted her. We informed the police about the incident,” the victim’s parents said.

The police took the victim for medical examination and recorded statements. The police registered a case against the suspect and arrested him from his brother’s house at Basti Bawa Khel.

Gurmukh Singh, SHO of the Basti Bawa Khel police station, said on the basis of the statement of the victim’s father, the suspect was apprehended. During investigation, it came to fore that the suspect hailed from Siwan, Bihar, and was employed at a factory here. He came to the city recently in search of work and was living with his brother in a quarter near the victim’s house.

The SHO said the suspect was sent to a juvenile home and further investigations were on in the case.
