Sunam resident Jagga Singh, a relative of Shaheed Udham Singh, on Monday alleged that the state government had not given him a job despite making a promise in 2006. Jagga Singh is the great-grandson of Aas Kaur, who was the daughter of Udham Singh’s uncle.

“I have been visiting government offices for over a decade. I request the CM to look into the matter,” he said, showing the job approval letter issued by the government.

Meanwhile, after a meeting with Sangrur ADC Rajdeep Brar, the families of freedom fighters, under the banner of the Punjab Freedom Fighters and Descendants’ Association (PFFDA), have reiterated that they would hold a protest during the state-level function to mark Udham Singh’s martyrdom day at Sunam on Tuesday. They are demanding action against the officers who helped seven distant relatives of the martyr get government jobs in violation of the norms.
