A local court today extended the police custody of three Congress men by five days to investigate the murder of two Akali workers, who were allegedly crushed to death under their cars on the intervening night of Tuesday and Wednesday.
Former councillor Narinder Pal Singh Sidhu, Jasmail Singh, alias Nikka, and Pamma were arrested soon after the incident. Sidhu’s wife is contesting the MC election from ward No. 9, here. He and his son Jaslovepreet Singh were among the 10 suspects who allegedly attacked the Akali workers. No more arrests had been made in the case so far.
City-I police station SHO Jaswant Singh said: “We are trying to arrest the rest of the suspects,” he claimed. — TNS
