CHANDIGARH:Chandigarh cricketers continued their impressive run in Vinoo Mankad Trophy as they beat Cricket Association of Pondicherry by 63 runs at the SLIMS Cricket Ground in Puducherry today to jump to the top of the Plate group.

Chandigarh cricketers continued their impressive run in Vinoo Mankad Trophy as they beat Cricket Association of Pondicherry by 63 runs at the SLIMS Cricket Ground in  Puducherry today to jump to the top of the Plate group. 

Put in to bat, the visitors, propelled by Abhishek Singh’s whirlwind 46 off 16 balls, made 160/9 in 20 overs. Skipper Yuvraj Choudhary made 41-ball 46, while Surya Yadav added a patient 32 to the Chandigarh total. 

Vinay Pratap Singh was the pick of the bowlers for the hosts, claiming 6/21 in his four overs. Aryan Bangar took 2/32. 

Pondicherry, in reply, were restricted to 97/7, courtesy some disciplined bowling by the visitors.   

Raj Angad Bawa claimed 2/9, while Sehbaaz Singh (1/15), Yuvraj Choudhary (1/21), Amit Shukla (1/25) and Mandeep Singh (1/10) took a wicket apiece for Chandigarh.    

For the hosts, Bangar hit an 18-ball 25 at the top of the order, while Thamizh made an unbeaten 23 off 39 balls. 

Chandigarh now lead the table with 24 points from seven matches. Uttarakhand with 24 points from eight matches are second, while Pondicherry are two points behind in third place.

Kerala girls beat Chandigarh by 54 runs

Chandigarh: An all-round effort helped Kerala register a 54-run win over Chandigarh in a rain-truncated Women Seniors T20 Trophy match at Raipur. Opting to bat, Kerala rode on Mrudhula Suresh's 15-ball 34-run knock to score 121/5 after the match was reduced to 15 overs a side. Chandigarh, in reply, failed to gather any momentum as they lost wickets at regular intervals and eventually closed their innings at 67/8. TNS
