Sirsa/Fateahabad, May 25

Former Minister and Haryana Bachao Sangharsh Samiti chief patron Captain Ajay Singh Yadav today demanded inquiry by a sitting judge of the Supreme Court or a CBI probe monitored by the apex court into the incidents of violence during the Jat stir, functioning of the KC Gupta commission set up by the erstwhile Congress government and the Prakash Singh Committee set up by the present BJP government in view of the “glaring discrepancies”.

Addressing mediapersons in Sirsa and Fatehabad today, Yadav said the samiti members would submit a memorandum to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on these demands after a dharna at Jantar Mantar on May 29.

“Prakash Singh’s own admission that efforts were made to pressure him during the course of the inquiry cast doubts on the fairness of the probe. The manner in which the government has opted to keep the report under wraps deepens the lack of trust on its probity,” the former minister said. Yadav alleged that information collected under the RTI had revealed that the KC Gupta Commission, on whose report the Bhupinder Singh Hooda government as well as the present BJP government gave reservation to the Jats, did not accomplish its task fairly.

“The commission’s report has already been rejected by the High Court as well as the apex court as no survey was done by the commission before preparing it,” said Yadav. He said the samiti would not tolerate any tampering with the 27 per cent quota of the Backward Classes at any cost.

Make report public: Selja

Karnal: Kumari Selja, Rajya Sabha MP, has slammed the state government for not making public the findings of the Prakash Singh Committee report. Selja accused the government of misleading the people of the state and demanded the findings of the report be made public.
