SHIMLA: A Full Court Reference was held in the High Court today to welcome the new Chief Justice V Ramasubramanian. Justice Ramasubramanian said it was an honour to serve the Devbhoomi.

A Full Court Reference was held in the High Court today to welcome the new Chief Justice V Ramasubramanian. Justice Ramasubramanian said it was an honour to serve the Devbhoomi. He said he was the fourth Judge of the Madras High Court to have had the fortune of being appointed as the Chief Justice in HP. Being the 24th Chief Justice was a good omen even as the Gayatri Mantra also has 24 letters, which was an inspiration to Sage Valmiki to compose the Ramayana epic.

He said he would strive to emulate his predecessors and that he looked forward to working together with the Judges, the Bar and the staff of the Registry to keep the flag of the High Court flying high.

Justice Dharam Chand Chaudhary welcomed the newly appointed Chief Justice on his first day in the court and said Justice Ramasubramanian had a vast experience as a Judge and his merit and legal acumen were unparalleled and his judgments were testament to it. He also mentioned that the Chief Justice was known for his erudition, oratorical skills, simplicity and courteousness.

The proceedings of the reference were conducted by the Registrar General Virender Singh.

Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan, Justice Sureshwar Thakur, Justice Vivek Singh Thakur, Justice Ajay Mohan Goel, Justice Sandeep Sharma, Justice Chander Bhusan Barowalia, Justice Anoop Chitkara and Justice Jyotsna Rewal Dua were also present.

Justice VK Sharma, Chairman of the HP Administrative Tribunal, and Justice PS Rana, president, HP State Consumer Disputes Redressal Commission, former judges of the High Court Justice Arun Kumar Goel, Justice Kuldip Singh were also present.
