MAHENDRAGARH: A softball team from Rohtak won the 53rd Haryana School State Softball Championship that concluded here on Sunday. It defeated Fatehabad in the final match. Yamunanagar secured the third position. Himanshu Gupta, Chief Minister’s Good Governance Associate (CMGGA), presented the prizes to the three teams.

Faridabad: Jasmeet Kaur Arneja, 18, of Faridabad recently won the Best National Costume award at the “The Miss Globe 2018” international beauty pageant held in Albania. Her outfit was a symbolic representation of the national bird, peacock. It symbolises strong personality and vibrant colours of a modern Indian woman. “Besides its glamorous content, the pageant also supports the cause of women empowerment” Jasmeet said. In May this year, Jasmeet was crowned as ‘Rubaru Miss India Elite 2018’, thus giving her the right to represent India in Albania.
Scores turn up for bull’s burial
Mahendragarh: People from all walks of life turned up in large number at the burial ground in Kamania village on Sunday as soon as they came to know about the death of a bull ‘Simpal’. Bhim Pal Yadav, a resident of Kamania village, said 22-year-old Simpal died after prolonged illness. “Simpal was buried amid the sound of drums. Over 250 shawls, blankets and coconuts were placed on its body by villagers as a symbol of respect,” said Yadav.
‘My Lord’ Abhilasha
Yamunanagar: Abhilasha S Kohli, a lawyer of Jagadhri, will be appointed Additional District and Sessions Judge after she cleared the Haryana Superior Judicial Services examination. A graduate (five-year degree in BA- LLB) from Kurukshetra University, she enrolled herself with the District Bar Association in 2003. “My hard work and support from husband Manav and daughter Anaaya helped me to make it to the judicial services,” said Abhilasha, who was elected the general secretary of the District Bar Association in 2012-13.
