Jalandhar, April 17

The Pendu Mazdoor Union has announced to protest against the installation of prepaid meters and the recovery of pending power bills. In a meeting held here under state president Tarsem Peter, the union decided that members will hold statewide protests against the decision of installation prepaid/smart electricity meters and to ensure the fulfillment of AAP’s poll promise of unconditional waivers of pending electricity bills of landless labourers.

Many people are too poor to pay their pending power bills and banked on AAP’s promises. If they are forced to pay their bills, the AAP government should be prepared for a massive protest. PMU members

While the union, announced village level mobilisation meeting for the same, it was decided that from April 26 onwards, demand letters would be handed over to AAP ministers, MLAs.

Union state press secretary Kashmir Singh Ghugshore said rather than waiving pending power bills as per provided guarantees, the AAP has maintained a silence on pending electricity bills.

They said many people were extremely poor to pay their pending power bills and banked on AAP’s promises. If these people are forced to pay their bills, the AAP government should be prepared for a massive protest.
