Rules given the go-by in containment zone

Meanwhile, in the newly declared containment zone comprising Islam Ganj, Habib Ganj and Sensi Mohalla, residents were seen roaming around. There was negligible deployment of policemen.

At Habib Gunj, residents were chitchatting outside their houses without maintaining social distance. “We are not going anywhere. Sitting outside houses is allowed,” said one of them.

Many residents were not wearing face masks. Though barricading was done by the police, there was no one to stop residents from crossing it. People were coming in and going out of the containment zone without any restriction.

According to Surinder Kumar, a resident, a police vehicle patrols the area around 7 pm and that is the time when people rush into their houses, otherwise life is normal as usual here.
