Atrocity victim’s parents threatened, case registered

TARN TARAN: The police on Tuesday booked unidentified persons for issuing threats to the parents of the woman, who was beaten up by the city police on March 3, 2013, three days ago.

The police on Tuesday booked unidentified persons for issuing threats to the parents of the woman, who was beaten up by the city police on March 3, 2013, three days ago.

A case under Sections 451, 505 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) has been registered in this regard.

Victim Harbrinder Kaur was tortured by the police when she came here to attend a wedding. The incident had remained in the news for months.

The victim was given security on the orders of the Supreme Court.

A few months ago, it was withdrawn.

Gurmeet Kaur, mother of the victim, in her complaint to the police said some persons reached their street at midnight, but they left after dogs started barking.

The family told the police that members of the opponent group were threatening them to reach a compromise.
