Amritsar, December 6

As it was the last day of filing nominations for the MC polls, a large numbers of candidates filed their papers today. The huge rush of supporters caused inconvenience to commuters on roads, as the candidates’ cavalcades moved on city roads.

Flouting the rules, the candidates reached the DC office with a large number of supporters. The commuters faced long traffic jams on the road leading to Kacheri Chowk.

“There is no need to show strength. The candidate should not be allowed to create a mess. More than 200 candidates visited the administration office with hundreds of their supporters. What are the arrangements for traffic management?” asked Mandeep, a local resident.

The road outside the district court complex was choked with vehicles.

The cavalcades of the candidates, going to file nominations for MC polls, flouted each and every traffic law on their way to the district administrative complex. The overcrowded vehicles with supporters standing on foot pedestals of the vehicles were also seen. Though a large number of police officials were on duty on roads due to the visit of the Chief minister, none stopped the violators, many of whom soon would be elected and would be entrusted with the responsibility of working for the betterment of the city.

“We expect that these candidates would think about the traffic issues. But they are not following the rules themselves. How would they think about the city?” said Gurpreet Singh, a resident.
