Bathinda, May 15

Members of the Para Medical Health Employees’ Association conducted a meeting regarding their long-pending demands with the Civil Surgeon, Bathinda, on Tuesday.

Executive members of the association met the Civil Surgeon and brought to his notice their demands which had been lying unfulfilled for a long time. The association had planned to stage a dharna at the Civil Hospital on May 18, but after the Civil Surgeon gave them assurance to fulfil their demands, former has revoked their decision now.

Jagdeep Singh Virk, general secretary of the association, said, “The meeting with the CS was a fruitful one and we are hoping that our demands would be met so we have taken back the decision to stage a dharna on May 18 now. Pending EPF (Employees’Provident Fund) statements for the year 2016-2017, outstanding arrears of 4 years and harassment meted out to staff nurses at health kiosk centres by miscreants apparently in an inebriated condition were the major highlights of today’s meeting.”

Virk said the Civil Surgeon had given us one-month time and if our demands were not met, we would be left with no choice but to resort to dharnas again.
