Speaker dwells on relevance of mother language

BATHINDA: Akal University organised a lecture on the topic ‘Importance of Mother Language’ on the occasion of International Mother Language Day on its campus.

Akal University organised a lecture on the topic ‘Importance of Mother Language’ on the occasion of International Mother Language Day on its campus.

Prof Rajinderpal Singh Brar, dean colleges, Punjabi University, Patiala, was the key speaker. The lecture was presided over by Prof Gurmail Singh, Vice-Chancellor, Akal University.

Professor Brar dwelt on the relevance of the mother language in the contemporary era by focusing on the Punjabi language. He emphasised that one should feel proud while using Punjabi as his or her mother language. He said the community’s positive attitude towards the language was the foremost factor to preserve any endangered language.

He added that languages were the most powerful tools to preserve and develop our cultural heritage.
