Students apprised of first aid techniques

BATHINDA: The two-day workshop on first-aid training concluded at SSD Girls' College here today.

The two-day workshop on first-aid training concluded at SSD Girls' College here today. The workshop was organised by the Youth Red Cross Unit of the college in which as many as 65 volunteers of the unit participated.

Col Virender Kumar, secretary, Bathinda Red Cross Society, was the chief guest. Ajay Gupta from the college management, principal Parminder Kaur Tanghi and other college staff, including Dr Suman Bawa, Dr Usha Sharma, Dr Savita Vhatia, Dr Neeru Garg, Dr Pomy Bansal, Taru, Tripta and Parveen, were also present at the camp.

Jaswinder Kaur of the college spoke on the importance of first aid while Ameesha, a volunteer, presented a poem on child labour. Susheela sang a song, 'Ae Mere Pyaare Watan'. The unit also organised poster making, slogan writing and typing competitions as part of the workshop. The workshop was organised under the supervison of unit councellor Monika Kapoor.

Ameesha bagged the first position in the poster making competition while Ria Kapoor won the second prize and Priyanka stood third. In the slogan writing competition, Sheenu, Prabhjit Kaur and Simranjit Kaur bagged the first, second and third positions, respectively.

National awardee and first-aid trainer Naresh Pathania demonstrated various first aid techniques which may be helpful in the cases of snake biting, burn injuries, drowning and other cardiopulmonary resuscitation methods.

In his address to the students, Col Virender Singh stressed upon the need for self-dependent.
