GST: Help desk set up for traders

The Government of India is ready for the implementation of the GST from July 1, 2017, so is the Chandigarh Administration. While the  department has  started  a GST helpline  desk  for  traders, it is  planning to hold a series of the events  to make the  traders  aware of the  new  system. 

Ravinder  Kaushik,   Assistant Commissioner, Excise and Taxation Department, said Chandigarh was the first city in the country where 100 per cent traders had migrated to the GST system. As many as 15,000 dealers have been successfully registered under the new taxation system. He said provisional IDs and passwords for logging onto the GST portal had already been supplied to all existing dealers.  Kaushik said a help desk  had been set up at the  office of the Excise and the  Taxation Department to help the  traders. A helpline — 1860 180 2067 —  has also been launched. The  department has provided  all information regarding the  latest rules  and regulations, circulars,  frequently  asked questions on  its  website. The procedures for the  migration has  also been given in detail. Under the new system, from registration to filing of returns, everything will be online.
