Locksmith decamps with gold, silver ornaments in Sector 10

Getting the locks of an almirah repaired proved costly for a family of Sector 10 when a locksmith stole jewellery on the pretext of repairing the locks on Wednesday. 

Sumer Chand (73), a resident of Sector 10, in his complaint, said he was alone in the house and was standing outside when he heard a person on a bicycle came calling for repairing any type of locks. 

He said he stopped him and asked him to repair the lock of one of the two almirahs kept in the room. He said the locksmith asked him to bring a screwdriver and a little bit of oil. After this, he went out of the house after repairing the lock. 

He said when his son and daughter-in-law Sonia, along with their children returned to the house in the evening and checked the bag in the almirah, she found a few gold rings, a chain, earrings and a silver cup-plate set, besides some silver coins, missing from the bag. 

A case under Sections 420 and 380 of the Indian Penal Code has been registered in Sector 5 police station and further investigations in the case are on.
