Chandigarh, July 16

Local MP Kirron Kher today took up the ring road project in the Lok Sabha.

Expressing her views on demand of grants for the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, she said it was a long-pending demand of her constituents. The ring road was crucial as it will prevent traffic heading towards Haryana and Punjab from passing through Chandigarh.

Last year, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had approved this demand and agreed to construct it under the Bharatmala Phase-1, but the project is not moving forward.

She requested the ministry to help resolve issues holding up the project.

The MP also thanked the Minister of Road Transport and Highways for approving a six-lane flyover and a four-lane underpass at Tribune Chowk.
