Youth dies in mishap

PATIALA:A 25-year old youth riding pillion on a motorcycle died on the spot while his cousin who was riding the bike sustained serious injuries in a road accident near Banur on Friday.

A 25-year old youth riding pillion on a motorcycle died on the spot while his cousin who was riding the bike sustained serious injuries in a road accident near Banur on Friday.

The deceased has been identified as Bikramjit Singh while his cousin Gurjeet Singh has been admitted to a hospital with serious head injuries.

The police said they had registered a case and were investigating the matter to ascertain the cause behind the mishap.

Shimla man held with charas

Chandigarh: The crime branch of the Chandigarh Police apprehended a Shimla resident for being in possession of 1,250 gm of charas. Prem Singh (30) was nabbed from Industrial Area, Phase II here. He was booked under Section 20, Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Act, 1985.
