New Delhi, September 6

Sangam Vihar residents, led by the MLA Pankaj Pushkar, today walked up to Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's residence, seeking answers to their demands of right to basic amenities.

Lack of basic facilities coupled with unhygienic conditions such as clogged drains in and around Sangam Vihar area where two persons-a girl child and 22-year-old boy- have allegedly died due to dengue in the last 72 hours, have failed to get the attention of the government.

As learnt by The Tribune, the argument given by the Delhi Government for rejecting the demands is based on the Cabinet decision of the erstwhile Congress government that "no development work can be done in such unauthorised colonies".

However, Pushkar condemns the "irresponsible" stand of the government claiming that it is misinterpreting the matter and looking it through a political lens.

"It is unfortunate that my friends decided to look into the matter politically. It is a pathetic situation where people are suffering due to dengue. I urged for an intervention of the Delhi Government, may be requiring investment of a few lakhs," said Pushkar.
