2012 polls: Punjab constituencies and voters in figures

CHANDIGARH:There are a total of 117 constituencies in Punjab out of which 83 are general and 34 are reserved for SC.

There are a total of 117 constituencies in Punjab out of which 83 are general and 34 are reserved for SC.

As per data from the website of the Election Commission of India, there were 1078 contestants during the 2012 elections.

Average number of contestants per constituency was 9. 

The number of registered voters during 2012 elections was 17764755 (Male 93,81415 and 83,83335 Female).

The number of valid votes cast was 13901424.  Rejected votes were 8076 and 73 votes were not retrieved from EVM. 

As many as 19841 polling stations were set up during the 2012 polls.  

The performance of candidates:-

No of contestants- 1078 (Male 985 and Female 93)

Elected contestants- 117 (Male 103 and Female 14)
